Are music reviewers influenced by an artist’s popularity?

The link between music and its reception is a nebulous one. Whether consciously or subconsciously, music reviewers are influenced by more than simply the content of music,. On that subject, the author of this article has coined a term called “poptimism”, to refer to the moment when an artist becomes so popular that they no longer receive bad reviews.
