Contemporary music and youth: where is the dissonance?

France Musique  has met with cultural mediators who help young people discover contemporary music, a genre that is often undermined in conservatories and absent from music programs at school. According to mediator Clément Lebrun, who works in schools, “the best audience is young kids who have never heard of contemporary music and are therefore fascinated by sound itself: they love making noise, reproducing sounds, and have a spontaneity of listening, which is a quality that every composer seeks.” To learn more about recent pedagogic projects using contemporary music in France, click here!
