Listening to music to regulate your mood, an unconscious action ?

Listening to music can help us avoid unwanted emotions, find refuge and comfort, or discharge our anger or sadness. Indeed, music plays a role in mood regulation. The musical parameters (genres, listening conditions, etc.) vary depending on the person, stresses, anxieties, etc., but music has a positive influence on our mood. This is what researcher Emily Carlson, from the Department of Music at the Finnish university Jyväskylä, has attempted to show through a study of how 123 people listen to music. The results of her study emphasize the personal response of each individual with regard to music.
