Oliver Sacks pioneered they discovery that music can be an effective tool to help those with Alzehimer’s disease, as it helps them regain memories, words, and emotions linked to music. Inspired by this research, Dan Cohen has founded a non-profit organization called Music & Memory. Its goal is to replace medication-based therapies with music listening and appreciation.
