L’équipe du projet de recherche « La pratique musicale comme outil d’intégration sociale » souhaite vous inviter à deux ateliers qui auront lieu les mercredis 9 octobre et 6 novembre prochains à l’Université de Montréal.
Le projet sur la pratique musicale amateur intergénérationnelle au sein des communautés d’immigration récente comme outil de développement et d’intégration sociale a pour objectif de construire un programme de recherche et de mobilisation des connaissances articulé sur trois axes : 1) fédérer les savoirs dans les domaines de la psychologie, de la sociomusicologie, et de la pédagogie concernant les impacts de la pratique musicale amateur sur le sentiment d’appartenance et l’intégration sociale; 2) créer une synthèse interdisciplinaire des fondements scientifiques de la création de dispositifs favorisant la pratique musicale amateur; et 3) appliquer ces principes à l’élaboration d’un ou des prototypes de pratique musicale en partenariat avec le milieu musical et les milieux associatifs communautaire et scolaire.
C’est dans ce cadre et soutenus par le vice-rectorat à la recherche, l’innovation et la création de l’Université de Montréal, le BRAMS et l’OICRM que les chercheurs à l’origine de ce projet, Isabelle Peretz (neurocognition de la musique) et Michel Duchesneau (sociomusicologie) organisent deux grands ateliers le 9 octobre et le 6 novembre 2019.
À partir des questions qui animent le projet, les professionnels et les chercheurs invités présenteront de manière synthétique leurs réalisations et leurs travaux afin de susciter la discussion avec les participants.
L’atelier du 9 octobre se conclura par la conférence de Bill Thompson, Macquarie University, Sydney, intitulée « Music and Intercultural Understanding », et celui du 6 novembre par la conférence de Frank Russo, Ryerson University, Toronto, intitulée « Sing well Canada : Understanding Group Singing in Older Adults from a Biopsychosocial Perspective ». Les conférences sont ouvertes au public.

Music practice as a tool for social integration:
Invitation to the workshops on October 9th and November 6th 2019
The team of the “Music practice as a tool for social integration” project invites you to participate to two workshops that will be held on October 9th and November 6th at Université de Montréal.
This project focusses on intergenerational, amateur music making in recently immigrated communities as a means of social integration and development. The main goal of this workshop is to build a research and knowledge mobilization program articulated on three axes: 1) bring knowledge together in the fields of psychology, sociomusicology, and pedagogy regarding the impact of amateur music practice on a sense of belonging and social integration; 2) create an interdisciplinary synthesis of the scientific underpinnings of the creation of devices that promote amateur musical practice; and 3) apply these principles to the development of one or more prototypes of musical practice in partnership with the music and community and school associations.
In this framework, and supported by the vice-rectorat à la recherche, l’innovation et la création de l’Université de Montréal, BRAMS and OICRM, the researchers Isabelle Peretz (neurocognition of music) and Michel Duchesneau (sociomusicology) who initiated the project, are organizing two workshops on October 9th and November 6th 2019.
Based on the questions that drive the project, invited professionals and researchers will present a summary of their achievements and work in order to stimulate discussion with participants.
The workshop on October 9th will conclude with a conference by Bill Thompson (Macquarie University, Sydney), titled “Music and Intercultural Understanding.” The workshop on November 6th will conclude with a conference by Frank Russo (Ryerson University, Toronto), titled “Sing well Canada: Understanding Group Singing in Older Adults from a Biopsychosocial Perspective.” These conferences are open to the public.
